Visit to Loopy Yarns
I am in Chicago for most of the week for a conference. Loopy Yarns is just around the corner from my hotel so I had to stop, especially when I heard there was a sale on sock yarn!
First off, some non-sock yarn: Online LInie Solo. I decided I had to make a scarf from this the minute I saw it on yarnharlot.ca.
Hmm, this isn’t exactly sock yarn either - Hacho Handdyded merino. I had to try it though. This will make some quick socks for sure. A woman I met who works there (but I didn’t catch her name!) is making a chevron vest using this yarn.
And some Fortissma Colori Socka - I liked the twist of the back yarn throughout the skein. This would make a nice Jaywalker I think.
My airplane knitting involved a simple stockinette sock made with Twisted Fiber Art’s Ravelry sock yarn. I love how the stripes are evolving. Actually many people noticed this yarn and commented on my knitting during my travels. I left my asparagus cable sock at home, too complicated for me to try on the plane. I need a pattern I can memorize. So I brought yarn and the Monkey sock pattern along with me
I had a great time at Loopy Yarns - it was a welcomed break between travel and conference check in. I am hoping to see more of Chicago while I am here but I am not sure how much personal time I will have. This may mean the half hour train ride to My Sisters Knits is on hold for now.
