Time Stands Still

I had heard that knitting 2 socks at a time using Magic Loop might be faster.
WRONG!
This is taking forever. And a day. Plus I think I could be using larger needles - I am currently using Addi Lace 24″. The extra length would probably make a difference. Instead of knitting, I spend most of my time shifting the stitches around the needles.
Using a project bag is helping the yarn keep from tangling too much. This is a sock back from ZigZag Stitches. Yarn is JL Yarn Vinca in color 551.

In theory I think people think it’s faster because you’re knitting across the entire instep or sole without changing needles. But if dealing with the sts on the needles and managing your yarn consumes that small amount of time saved plus more… 24″ sounds awfully short to me for 2 socks. For 1 sock ML I like at least 32″ and for 2 socks I grab the 42″ (or is it 47″? the long addi).
Oh I agree, 24″ would be too short to do one sock at a time I think and definitely difficult for two! I haven’t tried two yet but I usually use 32″ for one and have heard that around 40″ is good for two. You sure have been busy sock knitting, the socks you recently uploaded on Ravelry are great!
I normally use 40″ circs just for the ease of handling 2 socks at a time. You can use 32″ if you used to the magic loop method, it is a little tight but manageable.
