Adding and Missing Some

Posted by mobarger on May-12-2009

When you’re relegated to the couch and you have this vast collection of yarn, it’s inevitable that you are going to twist that yarn with 2-5 silly sticks and make something. Especially when it makes the internal workings of your arms move around in a way that has to be good.
Now I thought I had pictures on flickr of one project I have been working on but I cannot find them. I blame the percocet. I have been working on the sweater, “Hey Teach” in Mission Falls Cotton. I have all the pieces done and they only need to be sewn together and the neck/button band created. The sleeves took me 6-8 times to complete. Again I blame the percocet. But the sweater is all knit and only has to be finished. This part I am *really* bad at.

Monkey Picot Cuff

Another thing I have been bad at in the past and hopefully have conquered is the picot cuff. I admit: I cannot crochet. So achieving that perfect chain for a provisional caston is out of my grasp. I decided to try a backwards loop cast-on. This was a poor choice as it does not easily unravel. For my next sock I will cast on as per usual then thread a waste yarn through the live stitches. Meanwhile I have one mini-monkey completed. I followed the pattern as written but with 4 repeats and a picot cuff.

Nanner Sock

I am now working on the twin to this Nanner sock as a gift. Can’t tell for whom in case she reads this.

Flowers from work

Meanwhile folks at work sent me this incredible planter. It’s a swing. The center is gerbera daisies (my absolute favorite) and is surrounded by several different annuals. I love it. With the nice spring weather we have I am ready to drop the knitting and start planting and cleaning up outside at the new farm.

Mini Monkeys

Almost ready. There are socks to be knit!

  1. Abi Said,

What yarn is that that you’re using for the Monkey? That’s so amazingly funky!

  2. mobarger Said,

That yarn is Chewy Spaghetti in the Festive colorway. I probably got it at the Loopy Ewe. http://www.theloopyewe.com/browse/yarns/chewy-spaghetti/ but here is the Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=20256
