Mad about clubs

Posted by mobarger on Jan-5-2014

You may have noticed that I love MadTosh yarn. Big fan. So when I learned about the Magnolia Society and had a couple glasses of wine in me, I thought sure, why not! MadTosh yarn? In all sorts of different weights? And unique colors? What’s not to love? Sure I have no business buying more yarn, but it’s so pretty!

The club offers several options of color families – jewels, neutrals and naturals. I was torn between neutral and natural and finally opted for natural. My first shipment arrived yesterday.

Look at that green! It’s almost a little too green for me (even though green is my favorite color). But it makes me think of spring and growing things.

Another look …

It’s a chunky weight, and the color is “Big Sur.” There are 3 skeins of 160yds each. Hmm what to make, what to make….

I am thinking warmth, layers. It’s been cold here lately!
Here are some things that have been in my queue for a while, what do you think?

For the neck –

  • Silver Gun Fizz
  • Holding Hands, Feeding Ducks
  • Encompass
  • Or for the feet –

  • Woodcutter’s Daughter
  • Tuffy Boot Socks
  • Log Cabin Socks
  • Warm all over –

  • Caravan Blanket
  • Or maybe something for a certain little girl –

  • Hot Chocolate
  • I’ve got some thinking to do. Meanwhile “Big Sur” makes me think of this

It’s bitterly cold, we have a lot of snow and the sun is shining bright. Time to pile on the handknits and have an adventure!

I’m off! I’ll be posting some Christmas knits soon, as soon as they are gifted!

    Another swap – Knitspot!

One of the clubs I subscribe to these days is Knitspot’s Fall in Full Color club. The Ravelry forum is quite busy and full of fun, friendly people. So when a swap was organized, I was in!

My partner was pamelajd and did she know me well or what?

MadTosh yarn, a sock pattern for it (Harbert), a pattern for a square shawl (Spire), tea, lavender sachet,2 huge chocolate bars, mulling spices and some wonderful gift tags I can use for Christmas handknits.

Let’s look closer at that yarn, shall we? I love the rich brown. It is called Byzantine.

    Meanwhile it’s getting colder. Brr!

My package arrived today from Cristi-Lael! When I first saw the box, I was desperately trying to remember what I bought from Amazon, and when! Then when I read the shipping label, it finally dawned on me. I had been spoiled! Everything was wrapped in beautiful paper and I forgot to take a good picture. :(

Look at the tin sign! I love it! We collect tin signs around here, and this is the first one without a mention of guns LOL. It’s great!

But when I saw this, I melted. Isn’t it beautiful? I am not sure what pattern it is, but it’s MadTosh Tierra and it is *perfect* – I had just been wishing for a lighter cowl that morning as there is a bit of a nip in the air these days. This is a perfect weight for this time of year. I love the pattern and the color so much!

Thank you Cristi! This was a wonderful package!
