Not knitting, exactly

Chair
I guess I have had this chair kicking around for about 2-3 years. I bought it and another one, both old fashioned metal hotel chairs, at an auction for a song. The other chair I painted blue and you can see it in some of my pictures.

Chair
I guess it took me that long to sand it and decide it was time to prime it and paint it. I started it one day a couple of weeks ago when we had no power and I had no truck. Priming it was easy.

Chair
I wanted this chair to be 2 colors so I had to block it off. Hindsight being 20-20 I would have done it in reverse of what I did here, doing the small parts before the all over color. I used spray paint and the blue paint spray head was a little squirrely and wanted to put paint everywhere (you should see my fingers!)

Chair
Naturally, I had help.

Chair
But it is finally done! I still have a little touch up to do (remember, squirelly paint head) but I am really happy with the results! I think it will be a great chair to sit in and knit!

Not knitting but still crafty

Wood boxes

Last month we dropped off pigs at the butcher. We went to a place in Pennsylvania (Bryan’s Meat Cutting in Smithfield if you’re curious) and they have a nice storefront with lots of cut and cured meats for sale, seasonings and sauces, frozen veggies, and apparently, cheese.

Wood boxes

They had these round pine boxes for sale that used to contain cheddar cheese. They were $2 each and I thought at the time I must get these, I will come up with a use for them someday!

Curious rooster

Unfortunately I have yet to come up with a crafty idea. For now they make great entertainment for the chickens!

If you have any ideas, please let me know!

scrapple
Meanwhile I will leave you with this picture of scrapple, the largest amount I have ever seen in one package. (Definition of scrapple)

Before and After

Before

This is my pattern notebook. In it I keep print outs of old MagKnits and Knitty.com patterns as well as those I have bought. There are a lot there and it was time to reorganize.

After

The notebook on the left now contains only sock patterns. I have arranged them by designer (i.e. Wendyknits, Cookie A, Knitspot) as well as the general patterns downloaded from knitty.com and the like. Although many of these patterns are readily available online, and I have copies of them on my hard drives, sometimes it is easier to refer to the print-outs. My one pet peeve is that I love to see what yarns were used in sample socks and those are not always included.

How do you organize your patterns?
