Catkin Progress

Back in my Camp Loopy post, I showed you the String Theory yarn I purchased to make Catkin. Here is how it looked a few days later.

Catkin Take 1
It was not working for me. At all. The yarn was not as variegated as I thought, just a plain navy and a plain greenish greige. Boring. So I frogged it right down to its first slipknot.

Sanguine Gryphon Alocatron
Enter Skinny Bugga, colorway Alocatron. It transitions from brown to blue to green to gray so subtly. Now this is a yarn I can work with! The rules for CL say that we can sub one of the colors, thankfully.

Catkin
Here is Catkin today. I am just about to start Section 2. I kept the Carrina color (greige) as the alternate. I have until July 15 to finish! Wish me luck!

Where in the world is Estonia?

Estonia is dark green

Wikipedia says it “is a state in the Baltic region of Northern Europe. It is bordered to the north by the Gulf of Finland, to the west by the Baltic Sea, to the south by Latvia (343 km), and to the east by the Lake Peipsi and the Russian Federation (338.6 km).[8] Across the Baltic Sea lies Sweden in the west and Finland in the north. ”

Apparently they knit there too.

I purchased this Aade Lõng yarn from eBay for a steal. I mean $10 for 700 yards? Shipping was only $4. It transitions from color to color like Kauni. I intend on trying WendyKnits Tracey’s Shawl. I am not much of a lace person but she makes it look so easy, doesn’t she?

Ironically on the same day, this arrived. Clearly some knitting is going on in Estonia.

Just in time

Hypnosis sock
Just in time to start Camp Loopy, I finished the sock I was working on. Yes, singular sock, I still have to knit the other one. This might be the longest time I have ever spent making a single sock.

Hypnosis sock
The chart for this sock is 42 rows. I had to start and restart the sock a couple times, and once I got to the heel I almost started over once again. But I managed to be able to rip back a few rows and pick up again. If I would change one thing it would be the cuff. It’s in pattern and I should have used one size larger needles but it’s ok.

Now on to Camp Loopy!
