Here is the questionnaire — I’ll fill this out soon!

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

A: I love a good sock yarn. There are so many! I cannot stand knitting chenille, fun fur, or boucle.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

A: Usually they are strewn all over although I have a pencil case, accessory case, some sewn rolls and a Namaste bag to keep them in. Although I have spots of brilliance, I am not usually an organized person.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

A: My mother taught me when I was little and I lost interest. She’s been gone over 10 years now, and when my father sold the house, he gave me all of her knitting supplies and sewing and quilting supplies. So I started knitting then, about 5 years ago. Still waiting to learn how to sew again. I guess I am intermediate.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

A: Oh do I ever have wishlists. I will post them on the sidebar in hopes I have a sugar daddy out there.

5. What’s your favorite scent?

A: Coffee in the morning. Murphy the turkey’s feathers. Spicy azaleas and sweet blueberry blossoms in the spring. A patch of basil.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

A: At my desk job, I like to have a small piece of rich chocolate or a handful of nuts in the afternoon. I have been known to go across the street from our office to the coffee shop to grab a latte and a piece of decadent cake at times ;)

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

A: I play with beads a little. Used to make a lot of soap and now not so much. I garden and tend to my animals. I raise sheep and have their fleece and a nice Bosworth drop spindle but have not really learned how to use it yet.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

A: I like a lot of music. As far as radio goes, I typically listen to country but it’s really too repetitive. I like alt-country if there is such a thing - folks like Gram Parsons and Emmy Lou Harris, Steve Earle and Fred Eaglesmith rank much higher in my book than Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney for example. Old country like Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings are always in the mix. Tons of others. I recently started using last.fm - here is my page:http://www.last.fm/user/mobarger/

9. What’s your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can’t stand?

A: I love all colors.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

A: My husband has 2 daughters -16 and 18 - although I have none of my own. They do not live with us. We live on a small farm and raise a little of everything. I raise a lot of poultry and I guess they are all my pets, especially a certain tom named Murphy.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

A: I am certainly wearing more now that I knit! Never have worn a poncho though since my age started in the double digits.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

A: Socks, no doubt.

13. What are you knitting right now?

A: socks. I have a couple going. Undulating Waves scarf, a start of a sweater.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

A: You betcha! I love seeing what people can come up with, and really covet admire other’s creativity.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

A: Depends on the project. I usually reach for wooden DPNs for socks although I will do magic loop once in a while. I also have a lot of metal DPNs. Not fond of plastic DPNs. I have quite a collection of straight needles from my mom, and a few older circs. I have a Denise set that I will reach for whether the project calls for circs or straights.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

A: Yes to both, thank goodness!

17. How old is your oldest UFO?

A: about 5 years maybe? (socks). I have some of my mom’s sweaters that are about 30 years old.

18. What is your favorite holiday?

A: Whatever one is coming up is usually my fave. Thanksgiving and Christmas are nostalgic and warm and full of yummy foods. Memorial Day and Fourth of July are great since they give us long weekends and outdoor events. You can make every day a holiday if you try hard enough.

19. Is there anything that you collect?

A: Yarn of course! Besides that, anything chicken. I have a few glass nesting chickens that I love. Lots of wall hangings in the kitchen. Also I have a button fetish. Old buttons that you get at estate sales and the like? I cannot resist.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

A: It must be Norah Gaughan’s influence but Berocco (who I used to dislike) is really pumping out some cool booklets. There is also a new knitting mag (print) that I haven’t seen in person yet but it looks interesting (too bad I can’t remember its name!!). I do have a sub to IK and usually buy that other IK mag (another name I forget right now!). Oh and I usually buy Spin Off and PieceWork if that particular issue is interesting (and they really have been, of late!).

21. Are there any new techniques you’d like to learn?

A: I am starting to branch out with cables and lacy things.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

A: I knit socks all the time. I wear anywhere between a 7.5-8.5 shoe (American) depending on its use and season.

23. When is your birthday?

A: I hate telling people my birthday. :( It’s in late summer.

24. Are you on Ravelry? If so, what’s your ID?

A: Mobarger.
